New Mistra SAMS report about effects of COVID-19 pandemic on work & travel life
The report explores users’ attitudes towards the Neighbourhood Telecommuting Centres (NTC), observes the changes in the users’ work and daily life before, during, after and post the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the possible implications for NTC use in the future.
As of October 2021, Mistra SAMS researchers invited the users of the living lab #2 to resume working at the Work Hub (In accordance to the Swedish Public Health Agency regulations). The users stated that, since the rules regarding remote work have been revised at their companies, they felt working from their home office is a convenient alternative (quitters). However, there were about 10 users who have been regularly working at the hub since early October 2021 (regulars). A short survey regarding the changes in the users’ everyday work and travel aspects during the COVID-19 Pandemic was sent to all the 52 active users, of which 29 responded. Along with the survey, Mistra SAMS researcher conducted short 20- 30 minute interviews with 9 users of which 5 were "regulars" and 4 "quiters". With the help of these in-person interviews, this report explores users’ attitudes towards the Neighbourhood Telecommuting Centres (NTC), observes the changes in the users’ work and daily life before (January 2019-January 2020), during (Januray 2020- September 2021), after (October 2021 onwards) and post (a future timeline) the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the possible implications for NTC use in the future.
